While much of the time it is comical and makes fun of social atrocities like rape, the games have moments that can inspire awe or rip your heart out.
Q: Why aren't my saves appearing in Sengoku/earlier game?
A: Sengoku saves are put in the folder where you install you game. The saves are not appearing because your game is installed in program files. Create a folder in your documents called Sengoku Rance and install the game there. From Quest onwards the game stores its saves in a folder it creates in your documents.
Q: Why weren't the numbers translated in Sengoku?
A: Because you touch yourself at night. Set Japanese as your non-unicode language when playing.
Q: Which games are fully translated?
A: Rance I, Rance II, Rance III, Rance IV, Rance 4.1 and 4.2, Kichikuou Rance, Sengoku Rance, and its spinoff minigame, Slash Thrust Burn. As for non-Rance games, Daibanchou (Big Bang Age), Dungeon and Dolls, Little Princess, Mamatoto and Toushin Toshi I and II are translated.
Q: What games are getting translated?
A: Blade Beats Haruka is getting translated by Arunaru and will be an official English release. There is currently no prospect of any Alicesoft game getting released by anyone bar Mangagamer and Mangagamer will need to get the licences for the games and will not release anything until after Haruka anyway. Haruka will probably be released mid 2016.
Q: Should I buy Haruka?
A: Make your own decision based on it's own merits. It's a very fappable nukige with some gameplay. If you really want to buy Haruka to get Rance it's your own money your spending but I can't recommend it.
Q: What is the difference between Dark Lord and Demon? /Other translation difference?
A: These are different but valid translation choices made by different translators. You will notice when playing different translations that there are different translations for the same thing or same person for different games.
Q: Which game should I start out with first?
A: It is not necessary to start from the beginning and games could be done in any order.
However it is suggest that you should either start with Sengoku, as the best currently translated game and then go to the start or start straight from the beginning. Fortunately Sengoku's storyline is largely standalone with references to the previous games.
Rance I may not be worth playing but there is a translated digest version which covers the important parts. Then play Rance 02, Rance III, Rance IV and Rance 4.1 and 4.2. Kichikuou Rance follows the plots from Rance 1 to 4.2 and you may want to have played the earlier games as it could enhance the enjoyment of the series but it is still worth playing on it's own.
Q: Where does Kichikuou Rance fit in with the series?
A: Kichikuou Rance can be considered as the final game of a non canon continuity starting with Rance I. Rance I to III have been or will be replaced with modern remakes in line with current canon. KR shares the setting and some plot elements with the canon series but does not spoil Rance 5D onwards.
Q: Is Rance X the final game?
A: Everything made before Rance 5D is freeware, so don't bother paying for those. Mandarake (http://ekizo.mandarake.co.jp/shop/en/) is a good place to get stuff cheap, so look there first. If that fails, Amazon Japan (http://www.amazon.co.jp/) is your best bet. You need a middleman service like Big in Japan (http://biginjap.com/) to get them if you live outside of Japan though since Amazon won't ship porn internationally.

Sengoku Rance FAQ:
A: First, go to the Regional and Languages section of your control panel in order to change the language for non-Unicode programs into Japanese or for older versions of Windows, use Applocale (http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=13209). The former is more recommended since many Japanese videogames and visual novels don't work with Applocale. Then, use Daemon Tools Lite(http://www.daemon-tools.cc/eng/downloads) to put the .iso file on a virtual drive. If you did it right, a Japanese installation window appears. Close that window and run the patch. It should be self-explanatory from there.
Q: Sengoku Rance is raping me! Help!
A: Actually listen to Rance's nonsensical rants! Always be at war, conquer quickly, and have sex with beautiful women. If it's your first playthrough, don't worry about getting points. Please don't use a walkthrough. Just have fun conquering JAPAN!
Q: Gigai is raping my commanders! What do?
1) Send Kentarou if you can. If you can't, then you haven't progressed far enough in the story.
3) Send a shitty generic and then do a purple event to plan for how to take Gigai down, then send in Rance the next time he attacks.
Pre-Rance 5D games FAQ:
A: Jap locale is necessary.
Q: I'm lost. What do?
A: Use old adventure game logic and try every possible option. Only resort to the wiki if absolutely necessary. Note that Rance I is the most confusing but the others are reasonably doable.
Q: How hard are these games?
A: Not especially; the main issue is getting lost. These games require minimal grinding as long as you have sufficient healing items. One notable exception is a end-game boss of Rance III which requires a ridiculous amount of grinding or little at all based on luck.
Q: Sound won't work for Kichikuou Rance/Rance IV!
You have to mount your disk on your primary drive which either means ripping your files to a disk and using that disk or making your virtual drive your primary drive. Alternatively, you can use a couple of untested sound patches some anon made.
First go to http://www.geocities.co.jp/Playtown-Domino/8282/_inmm/_inmm238-installer.zip and install this program
Then download the patch for your game (make sure you update to system 3.9, patch is in the pastebin) and extract the content of the archives in your game folder.

A: You will soon. Keep playing.
Q: What exactly happened when I ran out of HP?
A: All unspent exp was lost. After a certain point in the game, losing all of your HP will cause a game over, so be careful.
Q: I need help!
A: Check the wiki. The maps there will help you much more than words on this pastebin since most of the issues relate to specific locations in the dungeon rather than battles.
Dungeons and Dolls FAQ:
A: Willingly exit the cave and you'll give half of all the exp you gathered to your doll. The only game over penalty is losing your EXP; you still keep all items.
Q: I want more cospl—err—equipment for my doll!
A: Slaughter gal monsters. On the top of the screen, it shows how much more equipment that gal monster will drop for your doll. Incidentally, gal monsters will only drop equipment if they drop an item, so you don't have to worry about the game messing with you in that way. Good luck finding them or getting them to drop though.
Q: What's with the grid thing?
A: Add white items to improve your base stats and blue items either give you special attack uses or a revival if you run out of HP. Red items can only be used to expand your grid; the number of squares it expands is shown below. You can also use other items to expand your grid if you press the red button. Also, be sure to find the treasure chest on each floor before going on to the next one.
Q: Fuck these guarding enemies!
A: Guard can be bypassed with special attacks or critical hits. Neither actually remove the guard though. There is also a small chance that the disturb effect of the skull item may remove the guard. However, like many Alice Soft games, the RNG is out to get you, so you shouldn't count on it.
Q: These bosses are too hard!
A: Grind for items and add them to your grid. Extra special attacks and revivals help a lot though stat increases are still very important.
Widenyo FAQ:
A: Go under units and drag them.
Q: How do I pick up ore?
A: Go under the 'Kids' menu and pick the treasure collecting kid.
Q: There's a hole that's spitting out bubbles!
A: Get the mushroom eating kid!
Q: How do I continue in Widenyo?
A: Click Advance. Enemies will get stronger, but more treasure will appear. There is a sub-plot and an end-boss of sorts, but the game is infinitely long.
Q: My character died, ;_;.
A: They come back in about 5 turns. Hold the line until then!
Q: This dungeon is too hard, how do I-:
A: GRIND HARDER! More specifically, rule of thumb is double level for a dungeon unless your A-team is filled to the brim with items. As long as they can one-hit KO an enemy on the floor you are on, you should be fine for any dungeon except for the gimmicky ones. For bosses however, you need to grind to insane levels just to stand a chance.
Q: How do I add music?
A: There's a SaveData folder in the Widenyo folder. In that, there's a MusicData folder (if not, create one). Put your favorite mp3s in there, though it may not work if there are tags or album art. If all else fails, convert it to a wav file.
Q: What does that untranslated text box that appears when I complete all of the dungeons say?
